Saturday Ecology Crafts – The Mighty Oak Tree
Community Room
Saturday, Nov. 22
12:30 pm – 1:30 pm
Continuing our exploration of the ecology of our region, join us for a program all about Oak trees! Oak is a keystone species, meaningĀ a species on which other species in an ecosystem largely depend. Oaks actually support more life-forms than any other North American tree genus including fungi, insects, birds and mammals! Over the two Saturday sessions, we’re going to be learning how to crochet oak leaves to decorate a new tree display in the Children’s Wing. Beginners of all ages welcome! Children’s Programmer Karen will be slowly teaching us how to follow a crochet pattern after learning the simple stitches necessary to make this project. Patience and dexterity is required.
