THE PORCH: LIVE STORYTELLING
The Porch is a beloved live storytelling series created by Joey and Lorelei Shavelle that brings members of our Hudson Valley community together for an intimate evening of curated, true stories told without notes. Inspired by The Moth radio program, a cast of local residents work with The Porch to shape stories from their lives and tell varied and affecting tales under the late-summer night sky. Catch a new glimpse into the lives of your friends and neighbors.
Scheduled storytellers include Jim O’Grady, Scott Gabriel, Norm Magnussen, Jen Wagman, Matt Igoe, and Matt Mercier, with more to be announced.
Stories will be told on our Meadow Stage next to the Studio Complex. A limited number of benches will be provided and audience members are encouraged to BYO blankets, chairs, and other lawn-seating items. Camping chairs will be available for $5 rental at the concessions table.

A founding member of the Judson Dance Theater the 1960s, Deborah Hay is a dancer, choreographer, writer, and teacher. Her thinking and development of approaches and methods of dance, which have helped redefine the field with her revolutionary work and influential books, have brought her wide recognition in the 21st century.
What if we could learn to not grasp in how we see? Not try and to hold on to that beautiful moment… But to be able to notice it and let it go… rather, noticing with a very light touch to celebrate the endless possibilities.
–Deborah Hay
Hay’s inimitable choreographic power and unique method of “perception practice” celebrates the ephemeral nature of dance, resulting in an authentic experience of time. |
