Dutchess County Empowerment Center
to Host Ribbon Cutting, Tours Friday, Sept. 6
This Friday, September 6th at 1pm, please join Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino and Department of Mental Health (DMH) Commissioner Jean-Marie Niebuhr for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony at Dutchess County’s Empowerment Center, an accessible resource center where adults at any stage of their substance use or mental health recovery can get support from recovery coaches and their peers. Tours of the Empowerment Center, including its community garden, will be available following the ceremony.
The Empowerment Cetner provides support, resources, services and education to people living in any stage of recovery – including recovery-oriented coaching from peers to realize personal goals, connections to resources such as healthcar, housing, benefits and employment, as well as wellness activities and support groups. Among the various activities is the Community Garden, a partnership with Eden Share, which promotes new models for creating, maintaining, and sharing community garden spaces with other nonprofit and human service organizations.
Learn more about the Empowerment Center’s programming as well as the various mental health services available in Dutchess. The Empowerment Center is located at 230 North Road, Entrance 3, in Poughkeepsie.
