Registration Open for Hudson Valley Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summit
Annual Technology-Centered Event Returns to Marist University June 18th
Registration is required in advance by Monday, June 16th
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming governments, businesses and daily life, making it essential for individuals and organizations to understand and adapt to this technology’s growing role in how people learn, shop, interact with technology and more. To help municipal leaders, school districts and higher education administrations, fire and police agencies, nonprofit organizations, local businesses and others learn about the potential benefits – as well as the ethical considerations – of using AI, the Dutchess County Office of Central and Information Services (OCIS), in partnership with Marist University, will host its fourth free technology-centered summit, the Hudson Valley AI Summit, on Wednesday, June 18th at Marist University in Poughkeepsie.
“As technology continues to evolve at lightning speed, it’s critical that our local leaders, educators, and business owners are prepared to navigate the opportunities and challenges that come with it,” said Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino. “This summit is about making sure our community stays informed, engaged, and ready to lead in this new era. I’m proud that Dutchess County is helping drive that conversation forward right here in the Hudson Valley.”
OCIS Commissioner Stephen Oscarlece said, “From education to healthcare to public services, AI technologies are changing operations and ushering in new innovations. As AI becomes a bigger part of our lives, understanding this technology becomes essential. Our AI Summit will help public and private sector businesses and organizations better understand this emerging technology, learn best practices for setting AI policy within their organization and explore some of the emerging trends in training and workforce development for working with AI.”
At the summit, experts, including representatives from private sector industry leaders and New York State agencies, will discuss topics such as:
-
The history of AI, what it is and is not; different types of AI and potential uses;
-
The benefits and challenges of AI, how it is being used to improve organizations and how it is being used by malicious actors; and
-
The ethical considerations for using AI within an organization.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Marist University Student Center and is free to attend. Registration and a complimentary networking breakfast will be at 8:30 a.m. Registration is required in advance by Monday, June 16th, and is available at DutchessNY.gov/AI-Summit.
