Arts Mid-Hudson (AMH), in collaboration with Big Gay Hudson Valley(BGHV), is pleased to announce an open call for artists for the upcoming exhibition Beyond the Rainbow: Highlighting LGBTQIA+ Stories, opening July 10, 2025, at the AMH Gallery. This inspiring exhibition will celebrate the diverse voices, experiences, and resilience of the LGBTQIA+ community through a wide range of visual and performance-based artworks.
Artists working in all mediums are encouraged to submit work that reflects on themes of identity, expression, love, community, and the ongoing contributions of queer individuals. Submissions are welcome from both LGBTQIA+ artists and allies whose work thoughtfully explores or uplifts these narratives.
Submission Requirements:
- Open to all artistic disciplines, including visual, performing, written, digital, video, traditional, and experimental mediums.
- Minimum of two submissions required for 2-D, 3-D, and written work.
- 2-D work must measure between 8” x 8” and 36” x 48”.
- 3-D work must not exceed 17 inches in any dimension.
- Written work should fit on one 8 1/2 x 11 page (12pt font) and will be printed and mounted by AMH.
- Sculpture display space is limited and will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis (15 inches max in any dimension).
- Video and digital work will be displayed on a monitor.
- Proposals for performance-based work are welcome; AMH will consult on feasibility.
- Submissions must be suitable for public gallery display.
- Artists understand that AMH does not provide insurance for artwork.
- AMH retains a 25% commission on sold work.
Eligibility:
Emerging and established artists residing primarily in Dutchess, Orange, Ulster, Columbia, Greene, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, or Westchester Counties in New York State are eligible to apply.
Timeline:
Submission Deadline: June 13, 2025 (11:59 PM)
Notification of Acceptance: June 20, 2025
Artwork Drop-off: June 26-27, 2025
Exhibition Dates: July 10 – September 7, 2025
Artwork Pickup: September 7 and 9, 2025
