Press conference to announce the launch of the ‘Stronger Support, Safer Work, Better Careers’ recruitment campaign
Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino and Sheriff Kirk Imperati will hold a press conference to announce the launch of the ‘Stronger Support. Safer Work. Better Careers.’ recruitment campaign, aimed at encouraging former New York State corrections officers to apply for positions within the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center.
The press conference will outline job opportunities, hiring incentives, and the County’s commitment to improving working conditions while maintaining public safety.
This recruitment effort follows a difficult period for corrections officers who faced hazardous working conditions, staff shortages, and increased violence in State facilities, leading to a strike and subsequent termination of many officers. While the State has enforced hiring restrictions on these officers, Dutchess County is taking proactive steps to recruit these experienced professionals into a safer and more supportive work environment.
Members of the media are invited and encouraged to attend and should RSVP by calling Loren Petrella at 845-486-2012 or emailing lpetrella@dutchessny.gov.
