Pieter Estersohn – A New Wave in Agriculture in the Hudson River Valley. Pieter’s talk will share a snapshot of his photographing and writing project, taken from his new Rizzoli book “Back to the Land”, which focuses the new wave in agriculture in the Hudson River Valley. He will discuss the historical context necessary in understanding the subject today as well as the diversity present in the region’s new farmers as well as the wide range of business models small farmers have adapted to achieve success. Pieter will discuss the passions and challenges that farmers address in the face of climate change and the continual approach of big AG in America. These are the new Connoisseurs of the Hudson Valley, and the imagery speaks to the dignity and rural style that he discovered during this project.
