Calling all Hunters and History Enthusiasts!
2025 marks the 250th Anniversary of the death of General Richard Montgomery, the first general killed in the American Revolution. Gen. Montgomery lived in Rhinebeck with his wife Janet Livingston Montgomery. To commemorate his death and his contribution of the American Cause, the Chancellor Livingston Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is partnering with the Starr Library in sponsoring a Rhinebeck Village Scavenger Hunt. It is FREE and will take place on Saturday, October 25, from 10 AM to 12:30 PM. Walk-ins are welcomed. Pick up instructions as the DAR Chapter House at 77 Livingston Street, Rhinebeck. The Hunt takes place in the Village of Rhinebeck and will end back at the Chapter House with ice cream and prizes. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent. Older participants are welcome to do the Hunt and enjoy ice cream afterwards but will not be eligible for the prizes. Bring your smart phone as you will be required to take a photo of the Montgomery (and DAR) mentions that you find. Come and join the fun and the opportunity to learn more about one of Rhinebeck’s important residents. For further information, contact Cindy Beahan at 845.616.9300
