Game starts at 4pm. All ages welcome. All Chili entries must be registered and on the table by 4:50pm. Bring a hot pot of Chili for a chance to win $100, a dish to pass or just your appetite to share among friends and family! Free Hot dogs and beverages for everyone! 1st Place Prize: $100. AND Pie Baking Contest ~ any fruit pie –1st Place $100.00. Rain date: Sunday, Sept. 22, 2014

It’s Time for Chili in Rhinecliff Again at the
Annual Chili Cook-Off September 21
The Rhinecliff Volunteer Fire Company will host its Annual Chili Cook-Off at Firemen’s Field, on Valley Rd, next to the Old Schoolhouse Condos in Rhinecliff on Saturday, September 21 from 4pm – 7pm.
Field games begin at 4pm. A few games have been added this year. A Cornhole Tourney is planned to begin at 4pm. Teams of two are encouraged to sign up for this single elimination contest. An entrance fee of $10. per team is required with the winning team receiving half the pot. The rest will go to fund the maintenance of Firemen’s Field. Kids games will include a spoon race, ring toss, a scavenger hunt and, of course, kickball. Everyone is encouraged to bring their own balls and games as well. At 6pm, the day will wrap up with a friendly Tug-O-War contest between North and South Rhinecliff. ~ North and South determined by where you live in proximity to Shatzell Avenue in Rhinecliff. Winners of the best of 3 tugs will be named Hamlet Champions of 2024. Be prepared to get dirty as the field is wet in areas.
At 5pm, the 13th annual chili cook off will take place. Registration ends at 4:50pm. Anyone can participate; bring a pot of chili, hot and ready to serve. Chilis can be any type from vegetarian to chicken to traditional beef. First place prize is $100 and a trophy. Runner up prize is $50. A People’s Choice Award will also be awarded with a prize of $100. After the contest, everyone is invited to test taste the chili selections. Hot dogs and beverages will be supplied for free by the Rhinecliff Volunteer Fire Co. This year multi-Chili Cook-Off Champion Paul Butler and his sidekick, Ivan Mentzke will be among the Chili judges, leaving space for a big chance at the Gold!
The Pie Baking Contest will follow the chili contest. Bring your favorite FRUIT pie to compete in this amateur contest for a winning prize of $100.00 and the title of “Rhinecliff’s Pie-Making Champion.” A second place prize of $50. will also be awarded.
