As we look ahead, one thing is clear. In dealing with the climate crisis, we need to look beyond the solutions themselves, at the art and practice of changemaking. That’s the only way to accelerate progress while minimizing backlash and foster the creativity that is so needed to scale our work. Check out our new Resource Hub for recommended creative approaches – and read on.
A majority of the US public is alarmed or concerned about climate change, but many still find it hard to discuss. Climate scientist Katharine Hayhoe’s lively TED Talk, “The Most Important Thing You Can Do About Climate Change is Talk About It,” opens up the why and how of effective communication. Her book, Saving Us: A Climate Scientist’s Case for Hope and Healing in a Divided World unpacks her model further with dozens of juicy stories about productive dialogues. SHV will be hosting in-person conversations (with practice opportunities) on Katharine’s work for everyone who wants to be a more consistent, impactful climate communicator.
