NEW STREAMING APP FOR PANDA TV
PANDA, the public access TV channel serving Rhinebeck, Red Hook and Tivoli, has released a free app, PANDANOW, for viewing the live channel plus individual programs on demand. PANDANOW is available for all major mobile and TV platforms.
To download the app, search for PANDANOW in the app stores for iOS (iPhone/iPad), Google Play (Android), Roku, Apple TV or Amazon Fire. PANDA shows can also be viewed on the group’s website, pandatv.org, and YouTube channel.
As a public access station, PANDA produces videos of all town board and village trustee meetings, and broadcasts those of other boards and local organizations that choose to have them recorded. In addition, PANDA produces shows on various other community events. Any resident can create a program to air on the channel, for which PANDA offers recording equipment and editing facilities.
PANDA’s Board Chair, Eric Riback, said, “We’re thrilled that, for the first time, PANDA can be viewed by anyone, anywhere, on most mobile devices and TV sets. We hope that the new app will encourage area residents to create more programs and videos to be shown on the channel.” PANDA Station Manager Danielle Chanler said, “We’ll be adding more new and classic programs to the app in the coming weeks.”
PANDANOW was made possible with the installation of up-to-date technology by Cablecast. Funding for that technology, along with new cameras and computers, came from a grant from Spectrum negotiated by Red Hook Town Supervisor Robert McKeon as part of an updated cable franchise agreement with the town. Operational funding for PANDA (officially Public Access Northern Dutchess Area Inc.) comes from the two towns and three villages of Tivoli, Red Hook and Rhinebeck.
